I’ve been integrating technology into the classroom as much as I can in order to better meet the needs of my students. I’ve used FlipGrid for video presentations, student summaries, review, and application of skills. I also use GoogleClassroom and Edmentum/ExactPath for differentiated instruction. The tool I’ve found to be most valuable is Nearpod. I have integrated Nearpod a lot into whole group language arts and reading instruction. Using Nearpod as a whole group instructional tool has made the lessons more engaging and participation has increased from all students. I no longer have just the same students always raising their hand. Some of the activities are anonymous as well, so the students are more comfortable participating and sharing their work. This also allows me to provide feedback and identify misconceptions as they occur. I’ve also used the Chromebooks to create online GoogleSlide Frayer models so students can add visual representation to their vocabulary terms to build understanding. I am heavily integrating the technology as a tool to boost instruction. Gaining four additional Chromebooks will give every student a chance to use technology to create meaningful learning.
