Students spend a large portion of their early years learning to read. After students learn to read, they read to learn. There is so much power in allowing students to pick up a book to read and gain knowledge on a subject they love. Our class books will be used by students during independent reading, small group reading and take-home reading. Our books will be placed in the classroom library where students have access to them easily everyday. Books empower students to take control over reading topics they enjoy. They can be used to enhance learning scenarios and activities. I've made sure to include fiction and non-fiction books so students have a variety of books to choose from. There are books that are diverse to include representation of the students in my classroom. We can't wait to continue reading!
