My students are first grade ESL students who are learning the language as they are also learning content. Our school is located in an inner city low income neighborhood in New York. Many of my students do not have access to books in the home and they are too young to walk to the local library alone. Having access to quality reading material in their classroom will greatly enhance their reading ability and instill in them a love for the written word.
