As we all know from the news, Oklahoma is in a budget crisis and education is poorly funded. These school supplies that you will be donating to our class will be well utilized and greatly appreciated! As you know, Pre-k is their first year in school and having these materials will enhance their learning and writing and help establish a great foundation for future success. These materials will be used daily in our math and literacy centers. Due to my students coming from homes where they may or may not have ever used these materials, the pencils and pencil grips will help them form the correct way to use and hold a pencil as well as the crayons and markers. I will use the pocket chart stand and sentences strips to write out poems for the students to read and write as they copy them onto the paper. The alphabet stamps and ink pads will be used for writing and reinforcing letter recognition and sounds. Due to most of my students being raised by single parents or even grandparents, they are unable to financially provide these needed materials. These materials will have a great impact on my students now as well as their future.
