In preparing students for college and career readiness, we are creating enriched/ blended courses that incorporate higher lexile reading materials and non-western literary texts. With these new classes comes the need for new texts. In an effort to expose students to cultures and views outside of their own, students will have passports that will be stamped from countries around the world as they read works from those areas. Students will be given "20% time" to find and study their own works of literature from various countries. In addition to beginning our study of global literature, this will be used as scaffolding for their future "20% time" projects that will be completely of their own choosing and design. Some books will be read as a class while others will be chosen independently or in small groups by students throughout the year.
