Sonnie Hereford is a brand new school in the Huntsville City School district. It is a combination of two older schools, Terry Heights and University Place Elementary Schools. It was built where the Terry Heights Elementary School was right in the middle of the neighborhood where many of the students live. We are a Title 1 school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our population is very transient and many of our students are learning English as a second language. There are many programs within our school that are designed to help offset the hardships that come from being on the low end of the income spectrum and to break language barriers. One way we do that is providing our students with their basic educational needs through support of local churches and other charitable contributors.
