Many of the students who attend our school have very limited access to technology at home. Because of the technological world that we are sending our students into, we feel that it is important for them to understand how to do research and writing (word processing) through a device in the classroom. At school, our students currently share the technology with the whole campus. This means that we rarely get a chance where the technology is available to our classroom for an extended period of time. We feel that it is important for our students going into high school to learn how to produce writing and to learn how to correctly use technology as it is what is going to be expected of them in the future, in high school, and beyond. Our students would be so appreciative of this opportunity. It would allow us to introduce so many things to them that we currently cannot. At this point in time, our students struggle with research, MLA format, and the general use of technology, especially in regards to literature because of the limited amount of technology available to us in the school. It would expand the ways that we can teach them, provide new ways to collect data, save paper, and provide these students a way to become familiar with new applications and prepare them for the high schools that they are heading into. To obtain these twenty-one Fire tablets would impact our students lives in a such a monumental way because they have only heard of schools who provide their students Chromebooks, tablets, or laptops. They have never been able to use technology consistently in the classroom, and it is something that would positively change their educational careers.
