Think about doing a written task at home. Do you stand up, sit at a table, recline on the couch, tap your foot or even lie down? Children love flexible seating in the classroom because it reminds them of the choices they get to make at home when playing or working. If you look around the home section of stores during the back to school season, you will see many different types of chairs and furniture options for dorms. Those options are also great for elementary school! Sitting in a chair at a desk is not the only way to learn and complete a written task! The stability balls and wobble chairs are perfect to sit on at a table so our students can get the movement they need while attending to their work. Research supports that moving can help the young brain learn! The bean bag chairs will provide a comfy choice to recline while reading with a friend or conferencing about writing. The wobble cushions and kick bands will allow the students to get out their wiggles while still sitting at their seats during particular lessons. The portable desk tops will give the students freedom to choose a spot in the room away from others to complete a written task without worrying about how to balance a clipboard. All of these materials will help these students get the most out of learning while enjoying their learning environment!
