This 3D printer will be an asset in our school's new STEAM lab. There are so many ways a 3D printer can enhance student learning. Students can design their own LEGO pieces to create a one-of-a-kind LEGO kit. Students in grades 3-5 can design and print their own hands-on fraction activities to enhance their understanding of fractions. Kids in kindergarten-2nd grade can design and print their own clocks for learning to tell time. We will be studying robotics a lot in our STEAM curriculum. The kids can use the software that comes with the printer to design their own robot pieces. During the holiday season children can design ornaments as gifts for their parents. They can design and create toys as toy drive gifts for children who do not receive toys. We will even explore how 3D printers can be used to create prosthetic limbs for patients such as injured and/or disabled veterans. The education enhancing opportunities for this interactive and educational resource are literally endless!
