Located in the heart of Washington, DC our school is a 6-story row building with no athletic fields, courts, or facilities of our own. Our school has a multi-purpose room with ceilings too low to play basketball or volleyball and columns impeding the play of most other typical sports. Our outdoor play space is actually the open fields at the National Mall, about a 10-minute walk from our school. Our PE teachers, therefore, have to get creative with lesson plans and our sports teams often have to make do with atypical practice locations. Due to the lack of facilities, the majority of the athletic budget is spent on renting field and court space and transportation to and from these various locations, rather than on equipment needs. The donation of the selected basic equipment needs such as cones, pinnies, and training equipment will allow us to replenish some of our PE supplies and the donation of sports specific equipment will allow for more money to be spent on much needed facility rentals and transportation costs.
