When I meet with students for pull-outs and math competitions, we need access to high-quality calculators that will help us have more time to do the deep thinking and less time on arithmetic. We'll be able to focus on complex problems and dig deep! When we do these pull-outs and competitions, the emphasis is always on the Mathematical Practice Standards - looking for and making use of structure, making sense of and persevering in solving problems, modeling with mathematics, reasoning abstractly and quantitatively, constructing viable arguments and critiquing the reasoning of others, using our tools (calculators!) strategically, attending to precision, and other thinking skills.
