My 1st grade students would greatly benefit from hands-on STEM materials. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) projects promote critical thinking, increase science and math literacy, and inspire the next generation of innovators. It is clear that most jobs of the future will require a deeper understanding of math and science. Everyone loves a fairy tale ending! My creative students will create even happier endings to fairy tales as they design a safer home for the pigs, construct a bridge for the three Billy Goats that will keep away from the troll, and build a chair just for Goldilocks that cannot be broken. Hopefully, they will create a raft that will help the Gingerbread Man get across the river safely, too! These kits help my students to design possible ways to prevent each character's problems from happening. Reading the accompanying fairy tales is an added bonus to build literacy skills!
