My students will conduct a semester long research project using the zebrafish to study Parkinson Disease. They will study the effect of estrogen as a preventative to the degradation of dopaminergic neurons of 6-OHDA exposed zebrafish embryos. They will design the experimental protocol and each lab group will be responsible for a control or a level of the independent variable and the multiple trials associated with each. Students are responsible for data collection, statistics, interpretation of the results and drawing conclusions. Each student will write a professional research paper and each class will present their research findings in a symposium.
