I teach in a public school on a military base in South Carolina. Our student body consists of military children and low income families. We are considered a "High Poverty" school due to the fact that the majority of our students receive free or reduced lunch. Due to the nature of some military families and the fact that many parents are deployed throughout the year, many children are left with one parent at home. Also,the financial situations of many families having both parents working many hours result in several students' families strained for not only money, but time. This affects the students academically. Our parents sacrifice so much for their children and for our country. I feel indebted to them and feel it is my duty to serve them to the best of my ability.

About my class
