I teach at a Title I school in Florida where approximately 80 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Since my arrival at this school, art has become a safe and welcoming place for these students to express themselves. I aim to provide a wide variety of media and art forms for my students to explore, most for the very first time. Despite the hardships and challenges that my students are faced with outside of the classroom, my school community works hard to provide a meaningful learning experience for our students. I may not be able to control their home lives, but can control their experience at school and hope to create a highlight in their day and inspire creativity outside of school. My students are eager to learn and do their best. They amaze me every day.
