I believe that the inspiration for reading, develops into the desire to learn at a very early age. This was made clear to me over the past 27 years of teaching in the elementary school setting. As a library media specialist, helping children acquire a love for reading is one of my goal. Another important goal of the library media specialist is helping students learn the organization of the library and learn how to locate information for their projects or topics of interest. These skills are beneficial throughout each child's academic career. I feel the library media center should be a place of safety, comfort, engagement and creativity. With your help, I can make our library media center, the center of our school. Creating a place where children want to come to explore and where teachers can come for support. The above pictured library wall, honors the veteran family members of our students.
