Working with children with severe disabilities, we always have to take into account their sensory needs. If these needs are not met our students often have a hard time focusing on their education. To ensure our students have every possible opportunity to learn through whatever avenue works best for them we try to provide sensory oriented manipulatives. In our class we have sensory seeking and sensory avoiding students therefore having individual items that cater to their specific sensory needs allow them the ability to be successful in their learning goals.
