The students in my class enjoy doing science experiments. With a microwave, we will be able to make clouds by heating up ivory soap. We will also be able to cook some of the items used in our apple tasting in the unit on "All about Apples and Apple trees." When we are finished with our experiments, we can put together a class book that the students will each have a page to type and reflect on the experiments and print the pages and put together in a book so they can enjoy reading the other students reflections. The students also enjoy publishing their own books to enter into the yearly creative writing contest for our school and county level. Each year my students have excelled in this contest by winning first place prizes in multiple categories. I strive to use as many STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities in my class. We built structures for animals out of marshmallows and toothpicks after we read DR. Seuss "If I Ran A Zoo". We have printed out pictures to display in the hall of each design and the animal that would be in the structure. These are only a very few activities that my students will enjoy with the items I chose for my project.
