These students attend a Title I school in an urban school district in Tennessee. These are children that come from, for the most part, difficult backgrounds, and they have had little to no interaction with books. These children are at a disadvantage because they have not been read to by a parent or guardian. Like other children around the country, they enjoy learning letters and sounds and all the process of learning to read, but their progress can be impeded because of a lack of interaction with books.

About my class
