Music is all about listening. Having MP3s can help students think critically about the music they are listening to and analyze the music. Music is also about collaboration. Giving students the freedom to listen to music with their peers can open up discussion about the music. This allows children to explore the depths of emotion and hear about things that they may have missed. Being able to break off into small groups and having students work together at their own pace can help solidify different concepts. I plan to use these MP3s as a tool to help students identify different elements of music, such as: beat, repeated rhythms, melody, and identifying different styles, moods, and instruments. I hope to use this technology as a tool to engage students in learning about music and the world around them. By having these MP3s I can expose them to different world music and teach them about heritage and humanity in a more effective and efficient way.
