I am the science department chair and lead Earth Science teacher of co-taught, general, and honors students. My teaching philosophy centers around teaching the whole student. In addition to teaching my students the foundations of science, they are also strengthening their skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. My classroom is set up to be very hand-on and interactive. To ensure that my classroom is as stimulating and successful as it can be, I incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and tools into my lessons. Technology is a staple of my classroom. Every student uses a laptop during instruction to complete notes through the web based presentation tool called nearpod. This tool allows me to embed "quick check" assessments into my instruction to ensure retention and understanding of new content.
