Second and third grade is such an exciting time for reading. My students are eager to read independently and are beginning to gravitate more towards chapter books than picture books. As a first and second grade teacher for the last four years, my book collection is lacking titles that will excite older readers. I know my students will be thrilled to see new book titles in our classroom when they return to school in the fall. Choosing a book to read is always an exciting task. I want to make sure that my students have a variety of genres to choose from. Muggie Maggie by Beverly Cleary will have children laughing while the Ecosystems series will prepare them for our STEM learning.
