My 8th grade "Science Giants" hail from a public charter in south Texas that is trying to help change the conversation about education in the state and the country. Though many of these students face economic hardship, language difficulties, and the possibility of relocation, they do not make excuses for themselves. They have a lot of pride for their community, their school, and their college-themed homerooms, evidenced by the cheers they create and perform during Friday pep rallies. As students in my class, they are incredibly curious, eager to discuss and explore the applications of the scientific concepts we study both inside and outside of our four walls. Help my students hone their scientific skills of observation, experimentation, and analysis as they continue down the road towards college-bound readiness!
