Being a part of a Healthy-Stay Fit school I have experienced many students coming to class and sharing with peers that they had just eaten their favorite meal of the day, “Hot Crunchy Cheetos” or some type of candy, washed down with a Capri-sun for breakfast. I have found that in most cases their substitute breakfast has nothing to do with inadequate food supply at home, but rather parents rushing out of the home not having time to prepare a healthy breakfast, therefore leaving the child to prepare their own meal. The result of such meal is poor academic performance, as students are more concerned with what time we are going to lunch than listening to lecture.
