I teach 6th grade at the first public, all-girls middle school in the state of Kentucky. I tell anyone who asks that we are our school district's best kept secret. I have been teaching since the Fall of 2007 and I am still overwhelmed every year by how bright and talented these young ladies are- even in the difficult circumstances they live with daily. Our school serves a population that is 97% free/reduced lunch and over 65%of our students live below the poverty level. But that never slows them down.
