Since I have been teaching at this school for the last 16 years, I have seen the many challenges my students face each day. Most of my students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program, live with many other families in one apartment, and often times do not have the necessary school supplies to bring to school each day. Although they lack a high economic status, they do not lack enthusiasm for learning science! Most of my students speak English as a second language and their parents often times have never finished high school themselves. Although the parents are often times uneducated, they always encourage their children to do well in school.
