If my project is fully funded, I will use the computers to challenge my students in all academic areas. I will have daily questions, activities and projects for them to research, and work in teams to collaborate on for final products. Additionally, I will require my students to account for why and how they used their computer in small groups. They will be asked to summarize what they learned, what they want to learn and questions that they hope to learn answers to from future research. I will reinforce skills for reading by teaching students to identify the main idea, the genre and supporting details on topics. They will be taught how to determine the genre of a text by questioning the content (details) that is given. Using the various websites like Starfall and BrainPOP, Jr. will reinforce information that I model for my students during read alouds and shared reading. Websites like CoolMath.com will also be incorporated in small group sessions to reinforce math skills that have been modeled, discussed and explained. In essence, the computers will be the motivational tools that assist and motivate my students in reaching competency in all subject areas and the tool that propels them into expanding their scope of self discovery.
