I teach in Naples, Florida, where my students are from a variety of different cultures and of varying levels of economic status. Through our class whole novel studies, my students have discovered not only a love for literature, but they have also become quite effective at sharing their thoughts, annotating text, defending their ideas and challenging each other in our rigorous Harkness conversations. As my students develop grit and study the craft of mentor authors, my goal is to prepare them to become life long learners of classic and modern works. Over the years it has truly been my pleasure to work with young adolescents.
