I am a 5th grade reading and writing teacher in a public elementary school. I love fifth graders. True, they can be sassy and ornery at times, but most often they still desire to please their teacher. They are old enough to catch my silly sense of humor and joke around with me. They keep me young. They are a fun age to work with. I love to learn and hope to inspire my students to become passionate about their own learning. I want my kids to never loose their spirit of wonder. I want them to learn to seek out the answers to their questions. I want to be that teacher, the one that makes them want to be life long learners. I strongly believe that if you treat students as if they are what you want them to be, they will rise to the expectations.
