"Never doubt yourself." This is a quote from one of my students. It is hung prominently on a bulletin board in the center of my room. It is a constant reminder to all who enter that confidence can be the key to opening up a world of learning. My students are amazing kids who simply learn differently, and it is my job to find the best instruction for them and help them access the general classroom with accommodations and tools. These children have more strength and endurance than most adults I know. When reading, math, social skills, and other school and life essentials don't come easily, much of childhood can be a struggle. My students are able to rise above the struggle, and I feel honored to be able to help them in their journey to successful. We are all part of a small school community that truly wraps around all its learners. All students know each other and all adults know all the students. We become one big family, and we strive for achievement socially and academically.
