I am a Bilingual teacher. I teach Spanish to 16 students in Kindergarten and 18 students in first grade on a half-day basis. The class population is 50% English native speakers and 50% Spanish native speakers. The Dual-Language Program began five years ago in our school. The program has been very successful. The students and parents are very excited because they have the opportunity to become bilingual. My students are from very low-income families. Ninety percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
