Students engaging in group work can come in many forms. The most important aspect, though, is that they learn to listen to and value each other's ideas. I have found the best way to facilitate the sharing of ideas is to provide the students with engaging tools. A large rolling whiteboard for each group of students helps them have the space to explain, show and discuss their problem solving. It also acts as a great canvas to share their work with the rest of the class. Having these whiteboards will give the students a sense that they are the teachers and problem solvers.
