My third grade students are quite inquisitive and they love music. We often create songs or rhymes to help with learning. Each year I have 2-3 students who are gifted budding artist whose talents go mostly unnoticed. My students are eager to learn more about technology, but the equipment at our school is limited. Our school is a rather small inner city diverse school. I have varied ability groupings inside one classroom which is quite challenging at times. They are always excited to learn about new people and places. I create lessons that expose them to the world outside of their own. I think all students are smart...it is just my job to figure out how they are smart. Their individual intelligences are highlighted and they are able to "shine" in their area of expertise, whether it is writing, drawing, singing, or movement.
