Students currently use expo markers on their desks and I have seen an improvement in their engagement when solving challenging math problems. Most children are kinesthetic learners and my students tell me all the time how much they prefer using their markers compared to pencil and paper. The reason why my students would benefit from these tables is that our class size keeps growing. With larger classes, tables take up less floor space but also allow more writing and workspace. In addition, tables allow more flexible seating options and therefore give students new opportunities to share their thinking with others.
