11th Grade. African American. Reluctant Readers. All of the adjectives above describe 99% of my students. Many of my students possess low reading and writing skills and are very reluctant to pick up a book and read for pleasure or work. My students have the propensity to take a short cut when completing reading assignments and most do not complete them. I believe this is simply because my students do not enjoy reading. This particular novel will spark an interest in my students and jump start them on the road to being avid readers.
