86% of the students I teach are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have technology in their homes and only get limited access to technology in the classroom. Our current computers in our classroom are old and slowing down and sometimes freeze up on us when we use them. We only have access to the school computer lab once a week. While I do enhance most of my lessons with technology, most of my students do not get to interact directly with the presentations (we only have one computer that displays my presentations). I believe that every child deserves to have technology at his/her fingertips. With that said, my students would greatly benefit from having access to a Motorola Xoom tablet and protective casings. Not only would they learn how to operate a computer, but they would be able to use educational computer programs to enhance their literacy and math skills.
