My students are typical of their generation. They do not like to sit still and remain quiet. They are used to the fast pace of video games and action movies. Many are more comfortable on a soccer or football field or on a basketball court. They like to be actively involved in learning, and a little competition makes it all the more fun. Doing homework at home is a challenge for many. Some have no support at home and lack the motivation to review the day's lessons on their own. Others have busy schedules that don't allow much time for the needed review. Motivating my students to put in that extra effort is the ultimate challenge.
