My students are first graders in an inner city public school. My students yearn to explore quality art and discover the joy of creating. They are effected by the age of technology, spending large amounts of time in front of a computer, television, or video games. A large number of the students have acquired a tendency to sit and watch in stead of create. They often have conversations about the need to experience more opportunities to stimulate their imaginations. Dreams and notions can be fun to think about, discuss, and hope for, but participation in this experience will bring their project to life. Quality art supplies are not a norm in our community or a ready made supply for these students over a textbook. This opportunity of expression could stimulate a child's need to be creative and active!
