I teach in Northern California at the school my own children attended. I teach 7th grade pre-algebra and 8th grade algebra math workshop for struggling students. The school has 853 students with an API score of 778; 51% Hispanic student population; 45+% of the students are on the free/reduced lunch program; 24% of the students are limited English proficient. Almost half of my students fall into the low social economic group; many of their parents work multiple jobs and are not proficient in English. I seek to give my students another tool to help them understand algebra and linear and quadratic equations.
