There are a multitude of benefits that come along with students having the tools they need to show their work and their processes. Whiteboards, clipboards, and magnets will all allow for students to easily display their work throughout the school day. Students take pride in seeing their work held up with a magnet on our boards, students can easily work on something and share it right away with all of these tools, and it gives me insight into their thinking quickly. These materials will increase student achievement. Students use whiteboards regularly, especially during the math block. This allows me to see their thinking step-by-step, right away. Therefore I can address misconceptions immediately. This information helps me work one-on-one with students, and allows me to gather data about whole class trends. Similarly, clipboards make it easy for students to move into a small group where a targeted skill can be taught. Students and teachers can be more flexible with tools like clipboards and white boards because it allows us to move around the room and give students a place to work even if it's on the rug. Once the work is completed, we can hang it up on our boards with magnets as a way to celebrate the hard work students have done.
