I teach Sophomores and mixed Creative Writing. Many of my students are motivated to do well and really embrace classroom topics. Like any teenagers, they struggle with growth mindset and first-time struggles can be scary. Despite their fears, students have expressed how comfortable they are in my classroom; they love working with groups, pillows, art supplies, and good old-fashioned paper. They are pretty tech savvy and can navigate educational apps with ease. Many kids will also turn in some pretty professional looking tech-based projects. This group of kids loves to read! They were very impressed by my class library and they are always checking out books. Our literature circle discussions are a favorite time of the week. Students are even keeping up with what I'm reading, which I post on the board. The majority of my students are college-bound. About 50% of my students will move on to Dual Enrollment, 40% AP.
