Reading is a very important factor in learning and acquiring any language. It is a great way for students to learn about both the language and culture. During class my students like to take time to read in French. They like to have choice in what they read and they like variety. Some prefer to read individually, and some prefer to read together with a partner or small group. This is a relaxing, fun learning experience. Students have indicated to me that they want more chapter books that are written for a novice to a low intermediate proficiency level. It is wonderful to have students that want to read!
