My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive with their peers when they are given a project and a purpose for small group learning and structured free time. Many of my students are bombarded with technology and very much need to learn and practice strong conversational skills, be problem solvers, and learn to collaborate with others for a common goal. These hands on materials will offer my students opportunities to work toward falling in love with science, build a strong classroom community, and spend time actually speaking and cooperating with each other.
