I want to teach my 4H students about gardening and food safety. Spring is just around the corner and we could plant a garden. I chose seeds, garden hose, soaker hose and a gardening book. I also chose a book about urban forestry to further teach my students about urban plants and sustainable urban practices. We will plant a community garden and if the students have a spot at home they can take seeds home to grow a garden at home while school is out for the summer. I also hope to teach them how to use a food thermometer so they know how to prepare food safely. I ordered food thermometers so the students can temp meat as it cooks. Another aspect of 4H is public speaking. I ordered a public speaking book to help with this aspect of 4H. The students need to be able to grow food in a garden and teach others how to garden as well.
