This pandemic has taken a toll on the nation but very much so on our community. I feel that now, more than ever, kids need books. They need to feel connection, love, diversity, hardship, and perseverance. My students would greatly benefit from quality literature at their fingertips. My current library is full of paperback books and I would love to be able to send those home with my students. Then I would replace those with hardback books of updated titles. I would also like for my library to be a fun inviting space that kids want to visit. I would love for their love of language and learning to grow in my first grade class as well as their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
