Students are at an all time high for out of the classroom stressors. Students are having to help support their families by working after school until deep into the night giving them no time for leisure or learning. I need to show them that the things we are learning can be enough fun to serve as leisure time of a sort. A telescope would make our observations of very distant space far more real and personal, as well as more fun. It also could do a great deal to impart some sense of responsibility to young people.
