The pandemic has kept young children at home and without access to many materials that help them develop fine motor skills needed for writing, social skills, and knowledge and experience in understanding and expressing their emotions. This compact art center, with four easels, will give my students the opportunity to collaborate, create, imagine, and share their thoughts and feelings. Children will be able to paint at a center, in groups of four. They will be able to illustrate scenes and characters from books, as well as science lessons and nature journals, and create pieces and projects from their own interests and experiences. Easel painting is unlike any other activity in our classroom. It's messy but so worth it!
