My classroom is a space of warmth and welcome! There are several flexible seating options to meet the needs of all students. However, when I was asked to teach more math classes mid-year, I realized my classroom would benefit from some more "math friendly" seating options. Whiteboard table tops are difference makers in the math classroom. As a teacher I am able to walk by and easily see students actively working out math problems. Using my own marker I can show errors, give encouragement, or work alongside them. Working with students in person in an interactive way makes math enjoyable again after many have been learning virtually. Whiteboard tables also assist in student collaboration, which helps build social/emotional learning along with math skills. Every good table needs seating, and the balancing ball seating options are perfect for active, energetic middle school students who need help staying focused while completing lengthy math problems.
