Monarch Mysteries will plant seeds and plants known to attract Monarch Butterflies and grow them in our garden. Students will observe and predict numbers of Monarchs traveling through Oklahoma and record their own observation counts. Students will evaluate which plants the butterflies visit most. Students will attempt to experience first hand the entire life cycle of the Monarch through diligent observation. The mysteries surrounding the monarch are many, the opportunity to observe, predict, record and compare will expose the students to several opportunities for hands on research and reporting. My lessons will be collaborative and integrate reading for research along with writing for sharing findings.
