Play is such an important part of the kindergarten classroom. Children learn so much from following their own interests and play allows this. Play also provides the opportunity to create, explore, and discover new ideas. Children learn about cooperative learning, sharing, and often new ideas from their peers. The students will be able to incorporate new ideas into their current knowledge and will help them make sense of the world. Play promotes learning, problem solving and social development. During the pandemic children in my class have not had the opportunity to play, cooperate, and collaborate with other children. I hope to add a variety of play centers in the areas of STEAM, listening to books for enjoyment, playing dress up, and other creative opportunities for my students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. These centers will last for many years to come.
